Evans Head Beaches

Some towns would love to have the beaches that surround Evans Head.

Our four beaches offer various opportunities for recreational fun, from coastal walks to four wheel driving and safe swimming.

Airforce Beach

Located adjacent to Camp Koinonia and stretches north from Main Beach to Broadwater Beach and onto South Ballina. A four wheel drive favourite for families, bird watchers and beach fishing. Picnic by Salty Lake where the Tea Tree water spills into the ocean or explore the seashells scattered along the beach. No driving permits are required.

Main Beach

It is a safe surfing beach next to the mouth of the Evans River. Patrolled by the Evans Head – Casino Surf Life Saver Club during holidays and weekends it provides a convenient and safe place to play.

Chinaman's Beach

Situated in the Dirawong Nature Reserve this secluded beach is just south of Evans Head. Surfing, swimming, trekking, sun-baking, fishing and exploring are just some of the activities you will find others doing in this natural wonderland.

Shark Bay

It is a small protected beach on the south safe of the river mouth and overlooked by Razorback Lookout. A most popular place for late afternoon ocean swim and BBQ’s by the River.
